Language Access

The Indiana Supreme Court is committed to providing meaningful, fair, and effective language access in Indiana courts and actively works to improve access to the state courts for limited English proficient (LEP) individuals and those who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Court interpreter certification

The state of Indiana provides court services to a wide range of people, including those who speak limited or no English and those who are deaf or hard-of-hearing. According to the latest census data, this is about 200,000 Hoosiers. Currently, Indiana has more than 160 certified interpreters in 10+ languages including Spanish, Arabic, Mandarin, and American Sign Language.
