Prepare to apply

When to apply

The ICLEO program welcomes applications from people of all ages and experiences.

You do not have to be admitted to law school before you apply to ICLEO, but if you are selected, you must be accepted to an Indiana law school (IU Maurer, IU McKinney, or Notre Dame) before you can attend the Summer Institute. Acceptance to the ICLEO program does not guarantee you acceptance to law school.

Applications are typically available each December/January and are due the following March for the Summer Institute that begins in June. See the application page for exact deadlines.

Take the LSAT

LSAT scores are just one piece of information considered by ICLEO. We recommend you take the LSAT no later than February or March of the year before you will begin law classes. While LSAT scores and grades are considered, there is no specific requirement; however, LSAT scores below a 142 are given lower consideration. Grades sufficient to warrant admission to an Indiana law school are acceptable; yet, your GPA will be assessed in light of your LSAT scores. For example, if your LSAT score is lower, then your GPA needs to be higher and vice versa.

You can learn more about the LSAT and prep courses or obtain official documentation of your past LSAT scores from the Law School Admissions Council.
