Title VI/ADA

The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (“BMV”) will effectuate the provisions of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, 49 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 21 and 303, Executive Orders (EO) and related nondiscrimination authorities. The BMV gives public notice of its policy to uphold and assure full compliance with the nondiscrimination requirements of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and related nondiscrimination authorities.

These authorities provide that no person in the United States shall, on the grounds of race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, income, or Limited English Proficiency (LEP) be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be otherwise subjected to discrimination in BMV programs and activities. As a recipient of federal-aid funding, the BMV is committed to nondiscrimination in all its programs and activities whether or not those programs and activities are federally funded. The BMV will take reasonable steps to ensure meaningful access to the agency’s programs, activities, services and information that are normally provided in English are accessible to LEP persons.

Any person who believes they have been subjected to discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, income, or Limited English Proficiency (LEP) has the right to file a formal complaint.  Any such complaint must be in writing and submitted within 180 days following the date of the alleged occurrence.
