Hoosier Veteran License Plates
The Indiana Hoosier Veteran license plate offers six different branches of service:
- Air Force Veteran
- Army Veteran
- Coast Guard Veteran
- Marine Corps Veteran
- Merchant Marine Veteran
- Navy Veteran
The Hoosier Veteran license plate may be purchased for an additional fee of $15.00, which is distributed to the Military Family Relief Fund.
To purchase a Hoosier Veteran license plate you must be able to provide at least one of the following:
- A United States Uniformed Services Retiree Identification Card;
- A DD214 or DD215;
- United States military discharge papers;
- A current armed forces identification card; or
- An Indiana credential, such as a driver’s license, learner’s permit, or identification card containing an indication of veteran status. The indicator is located in the upper right corner on the back of the Indiana credential. An indicator of Veteran (“V”) or Active Military (“AM”) may be accepted.
To purchase a new Hoosier Veteran license plate, you must visit any Indiana license branch and provide a copy of at least one of the documents listed above.
You may display this plate on passenger vehicles, trucks with a declared gross weight of no more than 11,000 pounds, motorcycles, autocycles and recreational vehicles.
