Telephone Solicitor Registration

Effective July 1, 2019, before doing business in Indiana, a seller must register annually with the Attorney General's office. The term "seller" includes anyone who, personally, through salespersons, or through the use of an automated dialing and answering device, makes a solicitation. A "solicitation" includes a telephone conversation or attempted telephone conversation in which the seller offers or attempts to offer, an item to another person in exchange for money or other consideration.

The telephone solicitor registration form can be found at the link below. Return the completed form to the Office of the Indiana Attorney General (address on form), together with the filing fee of $50.00 payable to the Office of the Indiana Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division. At this time, we can only accept payment by check or money order.

For renewing sellers, an updated registration form and a $50.00 fee are due before August 1st each year.

A seller who fails to register commits a deceptive act subject to a lawsuit for an injunction, reasonable costs of investigation and prosecution, voiding or limiting contracts, restitution to aggrieved consumers, and civil penalties up to $5,000 per violation. In addition, a seller who fails to comply with the statute commits a Level 6 Felony.
