Ramping Up with PATTERN
The Indiana Arts Commission is pleased to present PATTERN magazine’s Fall/Winter 2021 issue featuring thirteen participants from the agency's On-Ramp Creative Entrepreneur Accelerator program.
On-Ramp educates artists and creative professionals in ten essential entrepreneurship and finance areas. It also provides ongoing mentorship and development of arts-based small businesses through a site-based workshop and a funded fellowship.
Sharing the unique entrepreneurial stories of Indiana artists in PATTERN magazine serves not only to elevate their work but to shine a spotlight on the thousands of Hoosiers operating arts-based small businesses.
Together with for-profit and not-for-profit arts, entertainment, and cultural businesses and organizations, these entrepreneurs are helping contribute to Indiana’s robust $8B creative economy.
Meet the Featured Creative Entrepreneurs
Korie Pickett (KP) of Bloomington is the founder of Queen Spirit Magazine.
Kenya Ferrand-Ott of West Lafayette is a painter and illustrator who uses her talent as an artist to raise awareness of zoos and wildlife.
Rebecca Stockert of Fort Wayne is an illustrator and painter.
Sarah Wolfe of Vincennes is a visual artist who has returned to her professional artistic pursuits after a career in tourism.
Dee Parson of Anderson is the artist behind the syndicated comic Rosebuds.
Emily Guerrero of Indianapolis is an artist who celebrates the traditions of her elders through her business, Mexica Arts.
Erica Parker of Indianapolis is the co-founder of Chromatic Collective.
Sam Love of Gary is a social and civic practice artist, writer, filmmaker, editor, and community organizer.
Idris Busari of Goshen is a singer/songwriter who creates music in the style of Afrofusion.
Sunday Mahaja of Goshen is sculptor who make creates work using materials from local scrap yards.
Tahj Mullins of New Albany is an illustrator, animator, and published author.
Evren Wilder Elliot is a creative entrepreneur who combines theatre, movement exercise, and situations of oppression to help organizations and individuals face difficult situations in a confident way.
LeAnn Price of Aurora is a ceramicist who works to bring public artwork to her community.

This opportunity to showcase On-Ramp artists in PATTERN was made possible through a first-time partnership with the Indiana Economic Development Corporation and the Indiana Small Business Development Center. The partnership also expanded the program from one central training site to six statewide and from 34 participants to 104.
