Saw-Whet Owl Banding Demonstrations, Indiana Dunes National Park Visitor Center |
|
Event Description: THIS PROGRAM WILL TAKE PLACE AT THE INDIANA DUNES NATIONAL PARK VISITOR CENTER (1215 IN 49, Porter IN 46304. Contact phone number
219-395-1882.)
Visitors to the Indiana Dunes National and State Parks are invited to burn the midnight oil with the Indiana Audubon Society as they bring the 11th season of saw-whet owl banding to the Indiana Dunes. Park guests can learn about Indiana’s smallest owl in
this up-close and personal experience.
These evening presentations are free, with any captured owls being banded shortly after each hourly check. Additionally, live rehabilitation owls will be presented each Saturday night with Humane Indiana Wildlife.
Note that on Mondays, these banding events will be held at the Nature Center at Indiana Dunes State Park.
Because nightly programs are weather dependent, visitors are advised to call ahead to confirm banding will take place on any public night or join the owl banding text and email alert program for nightly status updates at: http://bit.do/owlbanding. |
