[IDEM] Registration open for pollution prevention conference and trade show
Start Date: 8/15/2014 All Day
End Date: 8/15/2014
Entry Description

Safety, health and environmental professionals are invited to register for Indiana’s statewide pollution prevention (P2) conference and trade show, “Thinking Global.” The event is taking place on September 17, at The Palms in Plainfield, Indiana.

The Indiana Partners for Pollution Prevention organization sponsors the annual conference and trade show. Now in its 17th year, the conference has become an international event.

This year’s keynote speakers are Daniel Murray, who heads up Safety, Health & Environmental for the Global Industry division of Louis Dreyfus Commodities, LLC, and Dr. Vicki Keramida, CEO and Chairman of Keramida, Inc., which provides environmental, health and safety services to clients around the world.  Additional experts from industry and government are lined up to lead discussions on pollution prevention technologies and methods that can protect the environment and lower manufacturing and operational costs for industries and municipalities.

Agenda topics include the benefits of best management practices, metrics and life cycle assessments for insurance coverage; demolition waste management practices; history of wastewater treatment; industrial wastewater best practices; safer cleaners and safer alternatives for laundries; industrial wastewater assessments and best practices; energy conservation and energy audits; and drinking water alternatives for developing communities.  The event offers wastewater operators and apprentices, drinking water operators, and professional engineers the opportunity to earn required continuing education credits (CEUs).

Recipients of 2014 Indiana Governor's Awards for Environmental Excellence will be recognized during the event, as well. This annual awards program showcases remarkable environmental projects and initiatives implemented by Indiana manufacturers and municipalities, giving peers the opportunity to share useful experience and inspirational success stories.

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management’s (IDEM’s) Office of Pollution Prevention and Technical Assistance sponsors the Indiana Partners for Pollution Prevention and manages the 2014 Indiana Governor’s Awards for Environmental Excellence.
