About this trip idea

Find the artist in you at some of Northern Indiana's most exciting music and art celebrations happening throughout the summer.

Jazz up your summer
Get in the blues groove at the Elkhart Jazz Festival   in June. This small town offers the excitement of a big party as more than 100 musicians perform in six venues for three days. Swing to the sounds of top jazz acts from around the country indoors at the historic 1924 Lerner Theatre or enjoy the Indiana summer with outdoor concerts in Civic Plaza. Brush up on your music history at lectures on famous jazz musicians throughout the festival.

Order your music with a side of ribs at the South Bend Country Fest   at the end of June. The sounds of country music will fill the air in Four Winds Field at Coveleski Stadium, home of the South Bend Silver Hawks, during the South Bend Country Fest. Big names will take to the stage as visitors and residents enjoy a great time. As you take in the show, you can also feel good about the cause - festival proceeds support local programming for individuals with special needs.

In early July, spend a day in Fremont swaying to your favorite tunes at the city's Music Fest  . Start your day with an exciting music parade through town, followed by nonstop concerts from noon to 9pm and a thrilling fireworks display to end the evening. Visit the classic car show, fill up on local foods, test your skills at a karaoke contest or pick up local wares at the sidewalk sales in between concerts.

Find your new favorite artist
An artsy summer starts in late July at North Webster's Dixie Days Festival and Art Fair  , where an enormous art show, antique tent sale and open-air market are the main attractions. Browse the booths for a variety of beautiful pieces or antique treasures. Get a breathtaking view of the town and Webster Lake as you fly up, up and away in a tethered hot air balloon ride! For a closer view of the lake, take a ride on the historic Dixie Stern wheel paddle boat, which has been giving tours of the lake since the 1920s.

The Amish Acres Arts and Crafts Festival   in Nappanee is ranked one of the top 100 events in North America by the American Bus Association. Celebrated on an 80-acre Amish farm complete with a pond, the setting is part of what makes this 50-year August event special. Tour the beautiful grounds, then admire the works of more than 300 top artists and craftsment from 30 states. Catch a musical in the Round Barn Theatre or enjoy live entertainment like country bands, magicians, cloggers and square dancing on four stages. Don't forget to fill up on delicious Amish-made foods like apple pie and zucchini bread - yum!

Immerse yourself in fine art at the Lubeznik Center for the Arts Lakefront Art Festival   on an August day in Michigan City. More than 100 artists and craftspeople from around the country demonstrate their skills with displays and demonstrations. You'll find more than traditional art here - jewelry, textiles, hats, purses, mittens and more are waiting to be discovered. Take a break from your shopping at the beachfront food court and entertain the kids with the festival's free children's activities.
