Visit One of the Top Ten Zoos in the Nation

Don’t just take our word for it – the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo was voted the “#1 Indiana Summer Gotta Do” and has been consistently listed as “One of the Top Ten Zoos in the Nation”! The Children’s Zoo features 43 gorgeous acres filled with thousands of animals – and a ride in every section of the park! From an exhilarating Sky Safari to a log ride, historic train ride and endangered species carousel, there the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo is a “must-visit” attraction this summer!

Play Ball!

From their recent recognition as the “#2 Indiana Summer Gotta-Do” to their national selection as “#1 Minor League Ballpark in the US,” the Fort Wayne TinCaps have a lot to brag about. The TinCaps play Minor League baseball in an awesome downtown stadium, where BIG FUN is priority #1! The park-like setting offers a kids area (complete with rock wall), splash park, and outstanding food (from pulled pork to fajitas to everything apple). And tickets start at just $5!

Planning a trip to Fort Wayne during a TinCaps home stand is like ordering dessert first – with a game on your agenda for the evening, you know you’ve saved the best for last!

Sculpture, Sculpture EVERYWHERE!

This May, the Fort Wayne landscape changed dramatically as 50 huge new pieces of public art were installed throughout the community! Known as IPFW Sculpture with Purpose, the project celebrates the 50th anniversary of Indiana-Purude University Fort Wayne. Each one is unique and functions as a bike rack – making this the largest collection of sculptural bike racks in the country. Bring your bikes (or rent some here!) and tour the sculptures to find your favorite!

Walk on the moon, then hold a butterfly in your hand – it’s all part of an afternoon in Downtown Fort Wayne

Enjoy hands-on fun at Science Central where you can splash in a tidal pool, ride a high-rail bicycle and whoosh down the 3-story slide. In the moonwalk, you can even experience the weightless feeling of gravity on the moon. Afterwards, you can see the moon’s detail up close at Science on a Sphere, Science Central’s newest exhibit that is changing the shape of learning!

While in downtown Fort Wayne, be sure to stop at the Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory, where you'll find three unique gardens under glass! Visit the Showcase Garden for seasonal displays (and their butterfly exhibit); enjoy unusual foliage in the Desert Garden; and experience lush palm trees, orchids and a waterfall in the Tropical Garden!

The Fort Wayne Museum of Art is another must-see in downtown Fort Wayne, where the ever-changing exhibits and hands-on learning center are a feast for the senses.

Enjoy Festival Fun

Plan your getaway around one of Fort Wayne’s amazing festivals! Whether you kick off the summer with Germanfest, Gearfest, BBQ Ribfest or Greekfest, or beat the heat with Buskerfest, Three Rivers Festival or Taste of the Arts, you’ll be sure to find a festive way to celebrate together. And be sure to mark your calendar for our pioneer-themed Johnny Appleseed Festival in September! For a full list events going on any time of year, visit us online at www.VisitFortWayne.com/events!
