Guests at this fall fete come to Mitchell to enjoy tried-and-true staples like midway rides, food booths, queen contest and a grand parade. But they also come with a taste for something a little more exotic, like the region's famous persimmon pudding. This Midwest delicacy has long tempted the palates of Lawrence county locals and is gaining a following throughout the Hoosier state. The Persimmon Festival is staged annually the last full week of September.
