Minnetrista, in partnership with The Marilyn K. Glick Center for Glass at Ball State University, will host its first cooperative juried glass show. GLASS: A Juried Art Show is focused on portraying the breadth and range of glass in contemporary contexts of craft, sculpture and mixed media art. Up to $10,000 in awards will be given. Supported by a grant from the Art Alliance for Contemporary Glass (AACG). In 1887, the Ball family moved its glass manufacturing business from Buffalo, NY to Muncie, IN to take advantage of the abundance of recently discovered natural gas. Ball Brothers Glass Manufacturing Company became America’s best known and largest manufacturer of canning jars. One hundred years later, Minnetrista was established on the site of one of the Ball family homes. This exhibition celebrates East Central Indiana’s glass heritage.
