Just the Two of Us

Get away from it all during a long weekend in Southern Indiana. Enjoy wineries, historic locations and a little history on this relaxing trip.

Day One
Begin your day at Saint Meinrad Archabbey in Saint Meinrad. Founded in 1854, Saint Meinrad is one of only two archabbeys in the United States. It offers a peaceful and spiritual retreat with beautiful grounds and is home to the Abbey Press.

Spend the afternoon in Bristow at the Winzerwald Winery. The winery offers free tastings and unique German- and Swiss-style wines, gifts and educational tours.

Enjoy overnight accommodations at the Harvest Moon Bed and Breakfast. Dating back to the early 1900s, guest rooms are in period décor.

Day Two
Start your day at the Evansville Visitors Center. This 1912 restored pagoda offers a wonderful view of the Ohio River. Enjoy a stroll along the Riverfront Esplanade.

Waterfront

Visit the Reitz Home Museum, a nationally-recognized gem of the 19th Century Victorian era featuring French Second Empire architectural design.

Visit the Evansville Museum of Arts, History, and Science. Tour their permanent art collection ranging from 16th century paintings to modern sculptures by world-renowned artists. Then tour the skies at The Koch Planetarium.

Spend the evening at Casino Aztar. Located in downtown Evansville, Casino Aztar features over 1,000 slot machines and 50 gaming tables.


Roofless Church Day Three
Journey to New Harmony set on the banks of the Wabash. It once was the site of two 19th century communal societies. Fleeing religious persecution the Harmonists located here in 1814. Then in 1824, Robert Owen purchased the entire town and established a communal intellectual society. Start your tour of the state historic site with an orientation film and exhibits at the Atheneum Visitors Center.


Visit the labyrinths and enjoy outdoor productions by the New Harmony Theatre. Historic downtown is a shopper's dream, known for its many antique shops, bookstores, and artists galleries. Sample prime rib and Shaker lemon pie at the award-winning Red Geranium Restaurant.
