Amish Country Getaway
Day One
Start your excursion in Shipshewana. Spend your morning at
Menno-Hof and discover the amazing history of the Amish and Mennonite
religions. This museum is in a unique setting, an Amish-built barn, and tells
the story with multimedia presentations, historical environments and
colorful displays.
Enjoy lunch at the
Blue Gate Restaurant, which offers exceptional service, down-home family-style dinners and more than 25 pie choices! An afternoon of shopping beckons. Whether it's the Riegsecker Marketplace, the Farmstead Antique Gallery, or one of more than 70 other shops in the downtown area you're sure to find something you'll want.
For dinner like no other, head to the small town of Middlebury and grab a seat
at the
Das Dutchman Essenhaus. They are famous for their homemade noodles,
pies and breads. Stay overnight at the
Essenhaus Inn and Conference Center where you'll enjoy unique décor

Day Two
Spend the day at
Amish Acres in Nappanee. Tour this restored 80-acre Old Order Amish
farmstead and learn about this 300 year-old culture still thriving in America
today. Enjoy their famous Amish Threshers dinner - a hearty family-style meal
of hearth-baked bread, fried chicken, cider baked ham, Indiana turkey, and
more. Then catch a show at their Round Barn Theatre offering production such as
Fiddler on the Roof, Bye Bye Birdie, and their famed Plain and Fancy.
