Schweinefilet Sandwich

Gerst Bavarian Haus

Travel to Evansville for the heralded hand-breaded and fried or charbroiled pork tenderloin sandwich in an 1890 building.

While the original Gerst Haus opened in Nashville, Tenn., in 1970, you only need to travel as far as Evansville for its heralded hand-breaded and fried or charbroiled pork tenderloin sandwich in the Heldt & Voelker Hardware Building built in 1890. Check out the nostalgic Gerst Beer brewery items, deer heads and derby pictures. Their classic German dinners, including Bratwurst, Kassler Rippchen, Knackwurst, Kielbasa, Wiener Schnitzel, Sauerbraten and Schweine Schnitzel, are popular among regulars and visitors alike. ($8.50)
