Scare Up A Good Time in Hamilton County, Fishers
Being scared was never so fun!
Watch Washington Irving’s time-treasured classic, The Headless Horseman, come to life at Conner Prairie Interactive History Park in Fishers. Enjoy a campfire and Halloween goodies, but be on the lookout for spooks, goblins and that infamous Headless Horseman as he makes his ride. Venture out on the haunted hayride and take in the barn dance complete with “Scary-oke.” The Headless Horseman rides the last three weekends of October.
In Noblesville, find your way through the inflatable haunted house at Stonycreek Farm. Their Pumpkin Festival runs September 29 - October 31, offering pony and train rides, a blacksmith, fishing pond and straw maze. If you dare, try the zipline that soars high above the farm from a 30’ tower!
Stuckey Farm in Sheridan also offers the best picking of the season this fall. This working orchard and farm is home to 4,000 trees with 27 different varieties of apples. In addition to picking your own or buying your favorites in the old barn farm market, you can watch them press cider and take a wagon ride. Find your future jack-o-lantern among the 15 acres of pumpkins. The farm market offers all kinds of fruits and vegetables. You can see what’s available each week online.
All that picking and walking can scare up an appetite, so take care of it at Bub’s Burgers & Ice Cream in Carmel’s Arts & Design District. While the restaurant’s name first came from a family nickname, it now stands for their signature menu item – the Big Ugly Burger™. This mega sandwich weighs one pound after cooking! Other quality food in this fun atmosphere includes grilled mahi mahi, elk burgers and hand-dipped ice cream.
