Celebrate the Past and Present, Fort Wayne
Fun is always on tap in Fort Wayne
Fall is a fantastic time to visit Fort Wayne’s Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory. The conservatory presents special exhibits and events throughout the fall season. Each exhibit and event provides a fun and engaging theme to the space.
Fort Wayne’s Children’s Zoo is ranked among Parent Magazine’s Top Ten Zoos in the country. Get nose to nose with an African lion. Visit the Great Barrier Reef in the zoo’s 20,000-gallon aquarium. Explore the Indonesian rainforest and keep your eyes peeled for the rare Komodo dragon. Rides, acres of animals and free parking – it’s a great place to spend a day.
Celebrate the life and times of John Chapman during the annual Johnny Appleseed Festival September 15-16. You’ll find delicious food, a bit of fun 1800s history and a lot of shopping including a Farmer’s Market featuring local food and gifts. Check out the reenactors during the Historic Old Fort Fall Festival October 20.
To cap off your day, see what’s on tap at Fort Wayne’s Mad Anthony Brewing Company, home to award-winning beer since 1998. The menu features classic pub fare, including deep-dish pizza, unique salads and gourmet burgers. Or head to nearby Roanoke for a gourmet experience at Joseph Decuis featuring Wagyu beef from the restaurant's farm located just outside town.
For more information about the area, visit the Fort Wayne/Allen County Convention & Visitors Bureau and Huntington County Visitor & Convention Bureau.
