Open every Saturday in Showers Common next to City Hall, this community farmers’ market features locally grown produce, annual and perennial plants, and prepared foods like artisan breads or barbecue sauce. New this year is myoga, a Japanese ginger. You can also find dried herbs and beans as well as fresh meats and cheeses. Live entertainment sets the mood for an enjoyable experience as you visit with the farmers.
Marking the Market’s spot is Bloomington Banquet, a soaring limestone table and chairs that set the stage for the market. This sculpture, which sits near the city’s walking trail, symbolizes the human need of both physical and cultural nourishment.
