In past relationships, finding the perfect gift for birthdays, Christmas, or just because presents was always one of the more challenging aspects of the relationship. I must admit that my first thoughts about gifts were grossly stereotypical and that only after realizing that every other guy in the world had thought about getting her a dozen roses and a $40 heart necklace from JCPenny, did I realize that I had to search deeper for quality gifts. The perfume, heart necklace and roses get pretty old pretty quickly.
After a couple years of being the buyer of lame gifts, I have come to the conclusion that shying away from mainstream market items is definitely the way to do it, particularly when purchasing jewelry. Just recently I came upon the work of Lisa Hopkins whose work will definitely be finding itself nicely wrapped up and placed as a surprise gift on my girlfriend’s doorstep.
Lisa’s work provides an exquisite sampling of rings, necklaces, and earrings with a hint of nature in their design. Many of her pieces incorporate representations of butterflies, leaves, flowers and trees. Her beautiful nature centered style is unlike any I have seen before and makes a great gift for anyone who is trying to avoid the mainstream market but still get beautiful, high quality jewelry pieces.
I love to find personal gifts for my girlfriend so happening along Lisa’s work was especially helpful for me during this fall season. I feel like it’s a season void of gift giving which, in my mind, seems like all the more reason to surprise someone with a present. Who’s going to be disappointed that you got them a gift in the middle of fall just because you were thinking about them?
