American Girl Fashion Show Coming to Columbus

If you asked me to look back on all the memorable Christmas holidays I experienced as a young girl, I could tell you right away which one stands out the most. It was definitely the Christmas morning that I opened up my American Girl doll, Molly. I had poured over the American Girl catalog for months, completely fascinated by the dolls, clothes, tea sets, etc. Moms are sneaky, and while I never asked for a doll, my mother must have known how much I adored them. I still have my Molly doll, and even though she’s collecting dust in my basement, I’ll always cherish her and the memory.

A unique fundraiser is coming to Columbus on Sunday, October 2. It’s an American Girl Fashion Show, which will feature more than 100 girls from Central Indiana, ages 5-12, dressed in American Girl fashions, both contemporary and historical. Attendees can also bring their American Girl dolls to have their hair styled and pampered. Two new dolls have just been added to the American Girl family, Marie-Grace and Cecile. These characters will make their first public appearance at this show. Other activities include a silent auction of American Girl products, goodie bags to all attendees, photo opportunities and much more. It certainly sounds like a little girl’s dream come true.

The best part is that while American Girl products can be a bit pricey, all proceeds from this event benefit the American Cancer Society. Show times are 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Premium seats have sold out, but regular seats remain. Tickets are $30 and must be purchased online by Sunday, September 18. The event will be held at The Factory 12 Event Loft, 1235 Jackson Street in Columbus, Indiana. Be sure to bring cash or check with you to the show, as purchases made at the event cannot be paid for with credit. More information on the American Girl Fashion Show can be find on the website.

If you’re looking to treat a special young lady in your life, I can attest to the fact that a lot of joy can be found in a little 18-inch doll. This event would be one to remember for quite a while!
