Enter Starr-Gennett Foundation’s “Battle of the Blues Contest”

Singin’ the blues lately? Turn your frown upside-down and enter Starr-Gennett Foundation’s “Battle of the Blues Contest” and see if you have what it takes to become Starr-Gennett’s “Blues Band (or Artist) of the Year”!

Starr-Gennett Foundation is on the search for the region’s up-and-coming blues bands and artists at this year’s “Mo’ Blues Festival” in Richmond, IN. The contest will take place on September 10th at the Walk of Fame Music Festival from 2:00-4:00 PM. The remaining top two candidates will compete for the title at 6:00 PM prior to the featured evening concert. The first place winner not only earns the title of best band or artist, but will also walk away with $500 complete with 8 hours of personal studio time.

To enter, send an e-mail with either a link to the band’s demos or a few of the artist’s mp3 recordings. Submissions must include a contact name, band name and music links or demos to:

The deadline to enter the contest is July 15th.

Starr-Gennett Foundation is an organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the legacy of Gennett Records and its collaboration with the Starr Piano Company. The foundation strives to restore and preserve global appreciation for early jazz, blues, gospel and old-time country artists.
