Looking Forward to the State Fair, my first one in 10 years!

The Indiana State Fair is the biggest event in Indiana over the summer, besides that little 500 thing. It is the combination of farming, agriculture, amusement, and Indiana’s greatest cooking pastime deep-fried everything! The state fair starts on Aug. 5th and runs 17 days until Aug. 21st. This year is the year of the Soy Bean and I can’t wait until it starts.

I have never been to the Indiana State Fair before, and the last time I was at a state fair was over a decade ago. That time I got sick and barfed after getting off one of the small rides. I have spent days at Cedar Point, Kings Island, Universal Studios, Epcot, Dollywood and other amusement parks riding every rollercoaster and ride I could, so for me to throw-up on a state fair ride was a shocking experience for me to say the least.

Now, 10 years later, I am ready to get back to a state fair and take in all that it has to offer, and going to the Indiana State Fair, one of the best and most popular state fairs in the country, is something I am really looking forward to. I plan on being at the state fair multiple days, admission is only $8 (and you can get discount $7 ticket sat Indiana Wal-Marts and CVS’s) and I am saving up now. I’m saving because I plan on spending one full day just on the food at the state fair alone. I am already looking forward to elephant ears, deep-fried Twinkies, deep-fried snickers, turkey legs, funnel cakes and that burger that’s got two donuts, hamburger, cheese, and bacon on it. I am salivating right now thinking about it.

I’m putting in my time in the gym now and eating as healthily as I can because I know that come Aug. 5 I am going to get really unhealthy really quick, by choice. There are healthy options at the Indiana State Fair, there is a Riley Fun and Fitness Park for kids and families to enjoy smoke free and healthy activities while at the state fair. I know that eating what I plan to eat may not be the healthiest, but everyone deserves a treat at least once a year and I’m cashing my treat-day in at the State Fair.
