After much hype and hoopla from the media urging me to try out the latest hot spot in Broadripple – 10-01 Food & Drink – I finally had to test it out for myself. As a frequent restaurant hopper, I tend to be very picky and selective about my choices for dining and am all about a restaurant’s authenticity in every aspect – the menu, the drinks, the staff and the service. It has to stand out and really capture my interest in order for me to be a return customer, so I went and investigated for myself to see if this new kid on the block lived up to its roaring appraisal.
One thing that stood out to me even before entering the restaurant was 10-01’s hours – open 7 days a week, 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. This simple gesture captivated me right away because those who know me best know I enjoy unusually late dinners, 8 p.m. or later. The fact that I was going out to dinner at 9 p.m. on a SUNDAY is typically unheard of when dining out in Indiana – but I definitely wasn’t complaining. Upon entering the restaurant we requested to sit outdoors on the all-too-popular patio that overlooks the Broadripple strip – a great place to see and be seen.

10-01 consists of two floors that house different atmospheres – the upstairs portion is for customers who prefer to dine in the lavish, dimly-lit abode with a fraction of the room sectioned off for the cooks – an opportunity for visitors to watch them cook up their culinary creations. The bottom floor houses the bar and additional seating for a before or after-dinner beverage with an extensive list of 10-01’s signature cocktails, martinis, wine and beer. These customary concoctions are a perfect aid to what turned into a perfect meal.
The menu explores a variety of unique ingredients to conjure up some of customers’ traditional favorites – as described by 10-01, it’s a blend of “Midwestern comfort food with a culinary twist.” Select from an assortment of appetizers, featured soups, salads, sandwiches, entrees and even their authentic “Death by Chocolate” dessert (if you have room left in your stomach, that is). To get a clearer vision of what the menu entails, my boyfriend and I ordered the 10-01 Mac and Cheese as an appetizer, complete with a four-cheese accent and broiled bacon on top to start. Our following entrees included my dish of 10-01 Outside In Burger (selected cheese is melted on the inside of the patty) with seasoned fries and my boyfriend’s selection of the blackened catfish sandwich, both of which were cooked to perfection.
From the amiable and welcoming staff to the extraordinary cuisine, 10-01 is truly a place all its own and radiates the essence of uniqueness. Needless to say, after my dining experience at Broad Ripple’s newest addition, 10-01 presents stiff competition to its surrounding eateries and will definitely have me coming back for seconds.
