A friend of mine was looking for a fun way to celebrate her birthday this week and she decided, what better way to celebrate being a year older than by feeling a lot younger. As a fan of fun birthday parties at Chuck-E-Cheese’s when we were growing up, we decided to try out Jillian’s. This seemed to us like a slightly more mature twist on the tradition of greasy pizza, tokens, and spending a couple of hours with the Chuck-man himself and his automated back-up singers and band.
So we got a group together and headed to downtown Indianapolis. Jillian’s is located right on the corner of Meridian and Georgia Streets, and we found plenty of parking available in Circle Center Mall parking ($1.50 for up to 3 hours). When we first got into Jillian’s, we were blown away by how massive it was – there are three very spacious floors filled with lots of seating, bar areas, and tons of interactive games.
The best deal is that you can order the “Play with your food combo.” For $14.99 you can choose from a variety of entrées and your meal comes with a $10 game card. There is also the option to purchase game cards separately from your meal: $10 for 7,000 points; $20 for 15,000 points; $25 for 20, 000 points; $35 for 30,000 points; $50 for 45,000 points; and $100 for 100,000 points.
We decided to order the nine-ball appetizer, which had a variety of starters including: chips and salsa, onion rings, mozzarella sticks, and buffalo chicken wings. Instead of just sitting and waiting on our food we were able play the different arcade games on the second floor. What I really liked about Jillian’s was the great variety of activities – you could sit and eat, play a game of pool, challenge your friends to a game, and even go bowling. And the bowling prices seemed pretty cheap, too. Shoe rental was $3.25 and one game per person is $3.95 before 4 p.m. and $4.95 after 4 p.m.
Our group of friends really had a fun time celebrating a birthday at Jillian’s, and I think it would also be a great place for a date, an office meeting, or even just a lunch break or a night on the town. Next time, I would like to check out their lunch specials, which included salads, burgers, sandwiches, and pizza, all for $5.99.
Besides the fact that there were a variety of interactive games, there was just as much variety in the menu! It’s a great place to take a group since there is so much to delicious food to choose from – wings, pasta, pizza, wraps, beers, wines, specialty drinks, and even dessert!
Overall, Jillian’s is an awesome place where great friends, great food, and great times all come together. (Plus, you’re encouraged to be a kid again!)
