43rd Annual Orleans Dogwood Festival – April 30 – May 7, 2011

The 43rd Annual Orleans Dogwood Festival is held to celebrate the beautiful blooming dogwood trees in Orleans, Orange County, Indiana, just north of Paoli. The festival is held the week ending on the first Saturday in May every year. This year sees the festival start on April 30, and ends on May 7.

The festival itself is held on Historic Congress Square, with plenty of entertainment, rides, food, contests, and a parade, all set on the backdrop of Orleans’ dogwoods.

Events include the naming of the Dogwood Citizen of the Year, a horseshoe pitching contest, a bubblegum contest, a silent auction, and dozens of yard sales throughout the community.Orleans Dogwood Festival Parade

Music includes a gospel concert on Wednesday, May 4, a karaoke contest, music by the junior and senior high bands, a teen dance party, and the Eastern Wing Band will round out the festival with two shows on Saturday. And don’t forget Orleans very own Dogwood Idol, a singing competition that promises $200 to the winner (judges are also looking for the best rendition of Pants on the Ground).
