It’s the week before Christmas and you find your living room is still missing a tree. Think you’re stuck haggling over the last scraggly looking tree at a nearby parking lot? Not in Indiana, my procrastinating friends! You can find many lovely Christmas tree farms all over the state.
My family visited Roberts Tree Farm in Seymour last weekend. Not only did we take home a beautiful eight-foot pine tree that is currently filling my house with the most beautiful scent, but we created wonderful memories in the process.
Many tree farms offer hay rides out to the fields, warm cookies and hot chocolate. At Roberts, they even drilled our tree in such a way that made it so easy to set up at home. If you visit Evans Whispering Pines Christmas Tree Farm in Danville, you can purchase a live wreath or greenery along with your tree. They also offer a cute gift shop full of ornaments and other holiday décor. That’s what I call one-stop shopping.
A live Christmas tree is also the most environmentally friendly way to celebrate the holidays. For each tree chopped down, three more are typically planted. Most communities also offer tree recycling programs, where you can turn your tree into mulch for local parks and landscaping beds.
