Festival of Lights Is Worth the Drive

Santa Claus, Indiana, home to Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari, also home to the Festival of Lights and all things Christmas. With a population of approximately 2,000 people, Santa Claus holds quite the resume, especially during the winter months. What better way to get in the Christmas spirit than to surround yourself with it!

Every year, Christmas Lake Village holds its Festival of Lights celebration, lighting the neighborhoods up. Usually a gated community, the public is invited to explore the different holiday light themes two Saturday’s in December. The 2010 Festival will take place December 11 and 18 from 5:00-9:00 (CST). Although there is no charge, donations and non-perishable food items will be accepted and donated to the North Spencer Community Action Center.

As you enter the community, Santa Claus is there to greet you with a wave and candy canes. Once you tune your car radio to the local radio station, you’ll see the lights start jumping to the music. Now this is not your normal subdivision, the total 9-mile tour takes about an hour and is one of the most amazing displays of Christmas lights you’ll ever see!

Each smaller community is given a theme and decorated in every possible way that can complement the theme with awards being granted to the best light displays. Themes range from Santa Claus and snowmen to elves and reindeer. The bigger the carload, the more fun it can be. Part of what makes the holiday season so special is family time and this is definitely a great family friendly way to spend a Saturday night in December.

On your way out of Christmas Lake Village, make sure to swing by the Santa Claus Post Office and drop off all of your Christmas cards. Won’t it be a great surprise when your friends and family receive a card postmarked by Santa? Season’s Greetings!
