Experience the Holidays in Santa Claus, Indiana: America’s Christmas Hometown

Indiana Tourism welcomes today’s guest blogger, Melissa Wilkinson:

Melissa Wilkinson is the Executive Director at the Spencer County Visitors Bureau in Santa Claus, Indiana, and Lincoln’s Indiana Boyhood Home.  “The best part about working in a town named Santa Claus, Indiana, is experiencing Christmas 365 days a year!”

Looking for a way to make this Christmas especially merry? Visit Santa Claus, Indiana, for a traditional holiday season that you and your family will never forget!
Experience all the magic this famous Christmassy town has to offer. This year, make the 2010 Santa Claus Christmas Celebration part of your holiday traditions! This celebration of family fun will take place on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays during the first three weekends of December…. starting this weekend!

Stop in at Santa’s Lodge to enjoy a traditional Christmas Dinner with Santa and then sing carols during the lighting of America’s Hometown Christmas Tree. Experience the lyrics to that familiar Christmas carol while you roast chestnuts on an open fire at Santa’s Candy Castle. You probably know the song but do you really know about Rudolph the Red-Nosed-Reindeer? Drive through Lake Rudolph’s 1.2-mile “Santa Claus Land of Lights: A Family Christmas Light Adventure” to learn the shining story of Rudolph.

Looking for new events at the Christmas Celebration this year? Rudolph’s Holiday Hustle, a 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, December 4, encourages everyone to dress in the Christmas spirit… and even awards the best-dressed participant! America’s Christmas Hometown Pageant is open to ladies from three to 26 years of age. Miss Santa Claus 2010 will be crowned on Saturday, December 4, to reign over the remaining Christmas Celebration.

The family fun doesn’t stop there, explore the gigantic Santa Claus Christmas Store and find something for everyone on your Christmas list. Or if you’re looking for handcrafted creations, check out the Santa Claus Arts & Crafts Show at the Santa Claus Community Center and Santa Claus American Legion.

The Santa Claus Christmas Celebration will create family memories to cherish for a lifetime so don’t miss out! Find out more about the Santa Claus Christmas Celebration at LegendaryPlaces.org/special-events or call the Spencer County Visitors Bureau at 888.444.9252.
