My Little What? Broad Ripple Café Gives “Petite Chou” New Meaning

Petite ChouDepending on whether or not you scraped through high school French like I did, the phrase “petite chou” may or may not mean something to you. Here’s a hint: it’s a term of endearment that translates to “my little cabbage.” What? Yeah, you read that right. But for those in Central Indiana, the phrase has taken on a whole other meaning.

Petite Chou is a café located in the heart of Broad Ripple, just off the main drag. The restaurant is actually part of the local Café Patachou chain. Because of its proximity to the Butler campus, the Broad Ripple location is a favorite Sunday brunch location for my friends and I.  The outdoor patio makes lovely seating for warm spring and summer days, and even allows for pet-friendly dining.

One of my favorite dishes is the crepe French toast. It’s a sweet dish with lots of cinnamon flavor, complete with pecans and fresh fruit on the side. Other delicious selections include their omelets and crepes, and the cinnamon toast is a requirement as a side. All in all, I’ve never eaten anything from the café that wasn’t absolutely amazing. Diners can expect to spend somewhere in the $10-15 range per meal, but the cost is well worth it.
