French Lick is for…lovebirds

This post is the second in a series of three “French Lick is…” posts. I recently had the opportunity to travel to the French Lick Springs and West Baden Hotels as a guest of the resort and the Indiana Landmarks Foundation. It won’t be my last trip there. You can read the first post here.

While I was at the French Lick Resort with my friend Maureen (who is NOT my lovebird), I found myself thinking what a terrific place it would be to spend a few days re-connecting with my husband.

We would enjoy a kids-meal-free, eat-it-while-its-hot dinner at 1875: The Steakhouse at French Lick Springs.  Perhaps after dinner, we might catch a show — Rodney Carrington will be perform two shows on November 13 and four members of the original cast of Jersey Boys will appear on December 18. Or try our luck at the 51,000 square foot casino.

The lighted dome at West Baden Hotel makes a perfect cover for night's end.

West Baden Hotel is a perfect place for a nightcap. The atrium under the world’s largest unsupported dome is dimly lit in the evenings as guests fix their gaze on the center of the dome, which subtly changes color.  In addition to Ballard’s Bar, which serves cocktails and light eats, visitors can dine at Sinclair’s, an upscale restaurant named for Lee W. Sinclair who purchased the hotel in 1888.

I imagine we would enjoy a leisurely breakfast in our room — available at either hotel — and then perhaps enjoy a couples massage at the spa. Other choices for recreation include indoor pools, local hiking and mountain trail biking, horseback riding and golf.

As you might expect, the French Lick Resort is not only a great destination for couples wishing to re-connect, but also is a perfect place for couples beginning their lives together. Click here for information on weddings at French Lick.

If you’re looking for a romantic start to the New Year, French Lick Springs Hotel will host Carnivale, while West Baden Hotel will offer Ring in the Romance.

Whether you’re newlyweds, marriage veterans or just two people in love, you’ll fall in love with French Lick Resort.
