Fresh produce, homemade baked goods, friendly faces. That’s what you’ll find at Minnetrista’s Farmer’s Market.

Minnetrista, located in Muncie, IN, hosts a Farmer’s Market that is the perfect place to find anything homegrown or home cooked, from fresh fruits and vegetables to homemade pies, cake and cookies.  Whether you come to do your weekly shopping or you are simply in town and want to see what it’s all about, the Farmer’s Market is simply fantastic!

I arrived just after it opened at 8:30am on a Saturday morning at the end of September and purchased the freshest homemade lemon poppyseed cake I’ve ever tasted.   I also bought a delicious brownie, locally made honey and a small bag of fresh Honeycrisp seasonal apples.  Everything smelled fantastic and the people there, both to shop and to sell, were so friendly!  Even on a cold, wet, rainy day like that Saturday morning, everyone I spoke to was smiling and happy to answer any questions I could possibly have.

The best part is the Farmer’s Market isn’t all Minnetrista has to offer!  Not only is it a fantastic place to meet local people, you can also explore their 40-acre campus which includes stunning gardens, the historic Ball family homes and a modern art exhibit or two.  Even on a dreary, rainy day the gardens were full of color and offered a very inviting place to sit and read or just be for a while.  There are paths that lead throughout the campus for walking or jogging and plenty of room to bring your family or your pets for a stroll.  You can even choose to go on a guided tour through the Ball homes and the Minnetrista gardens.

Minnetrista is a great place for a picnic with a loved one, a family outing or some time alone.  It has something for everyone and brings together nature, history and art almost seamlessly.  It’s easy to find, just past the Delaware County Fairgrounds in Muncie, IN.  The Farmer’s Market is open in May on Saturdays from 8a to noon, in June through October on Saturdays from 8a to noon and Wednesdays from 3:30-5:30p, and in November through April on the third Saturday of the month from 9a to noon.  Location varies depending on the time of year.  The grounds are open from dawn to dusk to the public and exhibits are open Monday through Saturday from 9a until 5:30p and Sunday from 11a until 5:30p.  For more information, check out Minnetrista.net.
