Buck Creek Winery is located about 16 miles southeast of downtown Indianapolis and has 4 1/2 acres of vineyards on their property. You can visit their tasting room Mon-Sat 10am-6pm or on Sunday from 1pm-6pm.

Chateau Thomas Winery

Chateau Thomas, located just 10 miles west of the Indianapolis International Airport specializes in vinifera wines, made from grapes native to the Mediterranean region, which explains the distinctly Mediterranean feel at the winery’s tasting room. Hours are Mon-Thu 10am-9pm; Fri & Sat 10am-10pm; Sun Noon-7pm.

Located right in downtown Indianapolis, Easley is a great place to stop if you’re staying downtown for the weekend. Easley also has beer-and wine-makings supplies, so if you’ve ever wanted to make your own beer or wine, this is a great place to get everything you need. Hours are Mon-Sat 9am-6pm; Sun Noon-4pm.

Ferrin’s Fruit Winery

Just 20 minutes north of downtown Indianapolis, Ferrin’s focuses on fruit wines, as their name suggests, but they do have a selection of wines from sweet to dry. CLOSED MONDAY, open hours include Tue-Sat 10am-5pm; Sun Noon-5pm.

Grape Inspirations Winery

The only winery in Indiana where you can make your own wine blend! This is a great activity for a group, as you can taste from Grape Inspirations’ 40 different types of wines, then the staff will help you create your own wine. Four to six weeks later you can come back and bottle your wine. You’ll walk out with 28-30 bottles customized with a label of your design! CLOSED MONDAY, open hours include Tue-Sat 10am-7pm; Sun Noon-4pm.

Mallow Run Winery

Mallow Run is located about 20 minutes due south of downtown Indianapolis and features more than 20 different types of wines, including Indiana’s signature wine, Traminette. Get out of the city and experience Indiana wine at Mallow Run. Open daily Noon-6pm.

Check out the brewery in Indianapolis’ northern suburb of Noblesville or try out the restaurant and brewhouse in the trendy Broad Ripple neighborhood. Barley Island has been brewing award-winning beer for more than a decade. Hours are Mon-Thurs 11am-Midnight,;Fri-Sat 11am – 1am; Sunday Noon-Midnight.

The Broad Ripple Brewpub turns 20 this year and is a main staple in Broad Ripple’s “Brewery Row”. The first of what are now several brewpubs in Indianapolis’ Broad Ripple neighborhood, including Barley Island, Brugge Brasserie and the Upland Brewery Tasting Room. The Brewpub features a typical brewpub menu, but the beer is where BRBP shines. Hours are Mon-Thu 11am-Midnight; Fri & Sat 11am-1am; Sun Noon-10pm.

Brugge Brasserie isn’t your typical brewery. They’re actually a Belgian restaurant and brewery, so if you’re into craft-brewed Belgian ales this is the place for you! You can order some crepes, Mitraillettes (Belgian sandwiches), some of their famous mussels, but you can’t go without trying their Pomme Frites with homemade dipping sauces. Enjoy their signature beer, Tripel de Ripple, but be careful, it’s about 10% ABV. Hours are Mon-Thu 11am-12:30am; Fri & Sat 11am-1:30am; Sun Noon-9pm.

Sun King Brewery

Indianapolis’ newest brewery isn’t like the others mentioned in this post. Sun King isn’t a restaurant and it isn’t really a tasting room either. Launched only recently, Sun King is more of a brewing warehouse where you can come and buy growlers and kegs of their beer to go. The best time to go is on Friday afternoons, when non-seasonal growlers sell for just $5. Don’t need a growler or keg’s worth of beer? you can buy 4-packs of 16-oz. cans of their Sunlight Cream Ale or Osiris Pale Ale as well. Hours are Mon-Wed CLOSED; Thu 5pm-7pm; Fri 3pm-7pm; a Sat 1pm-4pm.

Bloomington-based Upland Brewing Co. is the newest location on Broad Ripple’s “Brewery Row” and features several of Upland’s beers and some light appetizers for a great afternoon treat. Hours are Mon-Thu 2pm-10pm; Fri & Sat Noon-10pm; Sun Noon-8pm.
