Erik wrote about this last month – but since it’s coming up, I figured it’d be a good time to remind everyone all about it.
Springtime in Northern Indiana means maple sugar is starting to run from the trees and that means family fun for all. If you missed Maple Sugar Time at the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore in March – you still have a chance to experience it at the upcoming Wakarusa Maple Syrup Festival.
Held every year, the festival is a one stop shop for all things Maple Syrup.
From the organizer’s
You can enjoy stacks of hot-from-the-griddle pancakes smothered in pure maple syrup. Munch free kettle popped corn as the parade goes by. Tour maple sugar camps, watch wood carving and cross-saw cutting, enjoy lively entertainment and take home a jug of maple syrup flavored jelly beans.
The festival is held in Downtown Wakarusa on April 16th and 17th from 9:00am – 9:00pm. It’s sure to be a great family day out. If you’re in Wakarusa be sure to stop by the old five and dime and check out the world’s largest selection of Jelly Belly Jelly Beans along with great selection of other candies. We had a chance to visit it last year – see a post about it here.
