The Indiana Glass Trail is not made of glass, but there is a lot of glass making to see! The Trail connects communities, from Kokomo to Columbus, in which the tradition of glass arts has been most prevalent and can be experienced first hand. Here are just a few of the Hoosier Artisan studios, shops, galleries and museums that can be enjoyed along the way:
Kokomo/Howard County – Kokomo Opalescent Glass offers factory and hot glass studio tours. The Seiberling Mansion (Kokomo) and Greentown Glass Museum display Greentown and Jenkins glass.
Muncie/Delaware County – Artful beadwork to sculpture work are prevalent in the area.
Anderson/Madison County – The House of Glass in Elwood and others.
Hamilton County – Glassware, sculptures, artwork and more can be found in this county’s eight community main streets.
Columbus – Home to two original glass works by world-renowned artist Dale Chihuly and other public works of art including: a colorful glass quilt and a blazing 900-piece neon chandelier.
The Indiana Glass Trail is an Indiana Artisan sponsored program. Indiana Artisan is a joint venture between the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA), the Indiana Office of Tourism Development, the Indiana State Department of Agriculture, and the Indiana Arts Commission.
