Nestled in the beautiful Wabash Valley in Eastern Indiana, thrives a small Amish-Mennonite community with Swiss origins. The community of Berne, settled in 1852, was named after Switzerland’s capital and reflects old-world Swiss charm, hospitality and culture.
Two major draws to the area are the Swiss Heritage Village, a 22-acre pioneer village, and Limberlost State Historic Site, home of famed author Gene Stratton-Porter.

Ceylon Covered Bridge – Closer to Ceylon than Berne, this Howe Tuss structure was built in the 1860s.
Swissland Cheese Company – Organic Amish mill cheese production tour.
Hitzer Stove – Amish crafted, hand-built wood and coal stoves tour.
Swiss Days Festival – Usually, last weekend in July. Entertainment includes parade, polka dancing, craft fair, car show, quilt show, art show and lots of food!
