First Lady Cheri Daniels Helps Drive Tourism

Pete Dye Course at French Lick - Clubhouse ViewThere are many wonderful things about Indiana. At the top of the list is its natural beauty. If you need proof, look no further than the new Pete Dye Golf Course at French Lick.Pete Dye & Cheri Daniels at the Pete Dye Course at French Lick Dye, who lives in Carmel, Indiana, has designed golf courses in Indiana and around the world. Some call the course in French Lick his best effort yet. And it provided a perfect backdrop to “tee off” Indiana’s 2009 fall travel season. Indiana First Lady Cheri Daniels joined the Indiana Office of Tourism Development for a special event in French Lick on September 30 to promote fall travel and the annual Leaf Cam promotion. Daniels visited with a group of tourism leaders from Southern Indiana for a special meet-and-greet breakfast at the clubhouse. To everyone’s surprise, a special guest arrived to take part in the fun. Pete Dye and his dog Sixty walked into the clubhouse and presented the First Lady with an autographed flag from the golf course. Dye then joined Daniels to tee off from the course’s first hole. Not only does the course offer a tremendous challenge for golfers, but it offers stunning views of the valley. Standing nearly 1,000 feet up on a hill, panoramic views span 40 miles or more no matter where you look. And this magnificent golf course will appear on a national stage when it hosts the 2010 PGA Professionals National Championship. The Pete Dye Golf Course at French Lick is another jewel in the crown of the French Lick Resort. You can learn more about the resort at FrenchLick.com. Also new to the area is Splash Adventure Water Park & Resort, complete with a retractable roof for year-round fun.
