In the newest issue of Midwest Living Magazine, August 2009, Richmond/Wayne County is featured in their article “Antiquing with Attitude“. Midwest Living editors Carol Schalla, Barbara Morrow and Joan Luckett recently visited the area spurring them to include a wonderful 7-1/2 page article on antiquing. The article tells of the three and their quest to find new experiences and to find at least one treasure to back home.
The three women lodged at Centerville’s Lantz House Inn, a 1823 Federal-style row-house, owned and hosted by Marcia Hoyt. Marcia spoiled the trio with her signature lemon ricotta pancakes at a candlelit breakfast while offering her antiquing expertise. Carol, Barbara and Joan went from town to town, shop to shop weaving through collections of past odds and ends searching for items that could be re-purposed. They made stops in the unique shops clustered all along U.S. 40 from Knightstown to Richmond, Indiana.
As the threesome made their way, antiques weren’t the only experiences found in Richmond/Wayne County. Beautifully sculptured desserts at the Ghyslain Chocolatier & Bistro and fashion-designer clothing from the Secret Ingredient both in Richmond made the trip even sweeter. The three agreed that exceptional tastes and experiences of all sorts make the best souvenirs.
