One great thing about college campuses is that they seek to expand the minds of everyone — not just the people who pay tuition dollars for formal learning. Check out any college campus near you and you’ll likely find a host of activities open to the public.
This Saturday, April 18, WICR — the student-run radio station at the University of Indianapolis — will host its 3rd annual Jazz Festival. Local jazz artists will perform on the hour from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. on Smith Mall in the center of the south Indianapolis campus. In the event of rain, although the forecast is sunny and 72, the performances will be moved to the university’s Ransburg Auditorium. Admission is free. Click here for a line-up of performers.
While you’re on campus, check out the Fifth Third Bank Sculputure Walk, an installation of 21 sculptures by professional artists placed throughout the UIndy campus. My favorite is “Universal Continuum” which is located outside Krannert Memorial Library. Click here to download a brochure detailing each piece and a map that guides you through the walk. The installation will be on display through August 31.
