Greetings from Switzerland County, IN!  I’m excited to be writing my first post to the Switzerland County Tourism blog from my office located in the Switzerland County Visitors Center–once the Historic Phoenix Hotel in downtown Vevay, IN.

Since most of you are not local, I did want to explain that we pronouce our town “Vee-vee”, for reasons I have yet to find out.  (When I do, I’ll be sure to share with you!)  One thing you’ll quickly figure out when you visit is that we’re quite friendly folks–we’ll do our best to make you feel at home in our beautiful county located along the Scenic Ohio River!

For those of you that aren’t familar with Switzerland County, we’re the “Birthplace of the First Successful Commercial Winery in America”.  Not only will you be amazed at our history (did I mention the entire town is listed on the Indiana Historic Register?), you’ll fall in love with our beautiful scenery, abundant wildlife, the shops and eateries, winery, galleries, Historic B&Bs, museums and Belterra Casino Resort and Spa.

Events throughout the year make Vevay the “place to be” for family fun and entertainment.  We’re gearing up for the holiday season, so check back to see what we have in store for you and yours to help renew your belief in the magic of this special season!
