We’ve been blogging recently about a bunch of different motorcycle rides you can take throughout the state and this last batch is for everyone living in Central Indiana. If you live in or around Indianapolis, here are some great, short trips to take on a lazy weekend day.
If your trip is planned for the fall, check out our Fall Leaf Cam and see when the leaves are changing in different areas of the state.
Our longest day trip, this triangle through Central and East-Central Indiana will bring you through three great smaller cities and down the Historic National Road (US 40) – one of the Nation’s first federally-funded highways. The trip from Muncie to Richmond (on US 35) is a great stretch of winding road through rural Eastern Indiana.
My wife and I recently took a variation of this trip. SR 46 is the best part of this trip driving through Brown County from Bloomington to Columbus. Stop for lunch in Bloomington, check out Nashville and drop by Columbus for an architecture tour or Edinburgh for some outlet shopping.
Beginning at the IMS, make your way through Indianapolis’ west side and drop by Traders Point Creamery for some great organic milk, cheese and ice cream. Head up to downtown Zionsville (a great place for lunch if you aren’t too full from Traders Point) and then through downtown Westfield and Noblesville before taking the long way home. This is a great, short trip for a sunny afternoon.
Our shortest day trip, you can drop by Chateau Thomas Winery in Plainfield (Since you’re the DD on the bike, just pick up a bottle of wine for later), and tour the campus of Franklin College.
