A member may become eligible for normal (unreduced) retirement:
At age 65 with at least 10 years of creditable service At age 60 with at least 15 years of creditable service At age 55 if age and creditable service total at least 85 (This scenario is referred to as the "Rule of 85")
Early Retirement Eligibility
Early retirement is available at age 50 with 15 or more years of creditable service. However, in this case, the retirement benefit will be reduced because payments begin at an earlier point in a member's life and will need to cover a longer period. For more detailed information on early retirement benefit calculations, please consult either the "Calculator for Retirement Benefits" or the "Retiring Member's Guidebook," both of which are available on our Internet site.
