Except as provided by law, TRF will not share any information related to you or your retirement account, be it financial, demographic or in any other way identifiable to you.
How We Keep Information Secure
Information security is one of TRF’s highest priorities. This priority is emphasized by our Employee Code of Conduct, this policy, and physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that we maintain.
Recognizing and Preventing Identity Theft
Identity theft is a growing threat that can compromise not only your privacy, but your financial past, present and future. Because the nature of the internet makes it easy for identity thieves to reach and deceive potential victims, it is especially important to alert yourself to the precautions you can take while online to secure your privacy.
Identity thieves often use “spoofing” or “SPAM” to obtain an individual’s personal information. For example, they may send seemingly official emails telling the recipient that certain confidential details are needed to update an account or process a transaction. Once the individual provides this information, the email sender has access to the details necessary to steal an identity.
Though some emails may be legitimate, it is safest to be skeptical of all emails regarding confidential information. The following guidelines are provided to help you maintain your online security.
What To Do If You Become a Victim
If you suspect you have been a victim of identity theft, immediately notify the three credit bureaus and request that a fraud alert be placed on your record. Close the fraudulent accounts. File a police report and notify the FTC (800-ID THEFT).
