Indiana Tourism Summit 2009

On Wednesday, September 16, the Indiana Office of Tourism Development (IOTD) is hosting the Indiana Tourism Summit in conjunction with the Indiana Tourism Council to showcase best practices and advancements in interactive marketing. The Summit will take place from 10 am to 4 pm at Serendipity @ Metropolis. Metropolis is the outdoor shopping, dining and entertainment property located in Hendricks County (Plainfield).

Confirmed speakers for the Indiana Tourism Summit include:

RESEARCH

John Packer, TNS: John Packer will open the Indiana Tourism Summit by discussing interactive trends related directly to the travel and tourism industry. From a consumer viewpoint, John will identify how research and booking trends are affecting DMO return on investment.

ONLINE OPTIMIZATION

Santhana Naidu, Williams Randall Marketing: Santhana Naidu will take a quick, step by step approach to online advertising optimization. Santhana will identify and define relevant online marketing tools and then give step by step examples of three to four things that marketers can do TODAY to optimize and therefore increase the effectiveness of their online campaigns.

SOCIAL MEDIA

Pat Coyle and Doug Carr, Smaller Indiana: Pat Coyle and Doug Carr and the founders of the local social media platform: Smaller Indiana. Pat and Doug will discuss effective ways to use platforms like Smaller Indiana to engage users and build relationships—effectively.

PERMISSION EMAIL

Joy Cropper, Williams Randall Marketing: Joy will walk attendees through the step by step process of turning an email blast program into a permission based email program that engages users by providing requested content in a timely manner. Joy will review the step by step process to achieve a more effective email program, increase open rates and engage users, including necessary budget and what tools are available on a small budget.

In an effort to minimize partner expense to attend, the Summit will not include dinner and a tour following the sessions. However, Hendricks County does offer many dining options. More information regarding a Dine Around hosted by the Hendricks County Convention and Visitors Bureau will be available soon.

The fee for the Summit is $49 per person. This price includes breakfast and lunch. Click here for more details and a registration form.

IOTD has partnered with the Staybridge Suites in Plainfield to offer an affordable room rate. A hotel block has been reserved at the Staybridge Suites in Plainfield for $59 per night for the evening of Tuesday, September 15 and Wednesday, September 16. Please call 317.839.2700 for reservations in the Indiana Tourism Summit room block. The deadline to reserve rooms is August 15.

The September Tourism Council meeting will take place on Thursday, September 17 at 10am, also at Serendipity @ Metropolis.
