Link employees to carpooling and vanpooling resources.
Offer incentives to employees to reduce commute vehicle usage.
Sponsor in-house lunchtime activities for employees.
Provide an outdoor picnic area for employees.
Provide preferred parking for carpools and vanpools.
Obtain transit maps and promote schedules for nearby routes to your employees.
Provide onsite mailing and/or copying services.
Organize lunch ordering and delivery, or an in-house cafeteria or snack shop.
Arrange for onsite dry cleaning drop-off and pick-up at your workplace.
Provide direct deposit of checks.
Recycle office products.
Adopt a 9/80 or 4/10 work schedule to reduce trips to work.
Offer telecommuting to employees.
Subsidize mass transit for employees.
Purchase energy efficient lighting, equipment and computers.
Install a video teleconferencing system.
Provide secure bicycle storage.
Provide showers and lockers for bicycle commuters.
Provide onsite banking services for employees.
Provide onsite childcare.
Provide onsite exercise facilities.
Adopt a green contracting policy for procuring goods and services.
Adopt a clean fleet procurement policy.
Adopt a no-idling policy.
Evaluate goods movement and distribution infrastructure to reduce truck traffic and fuel use.
Perform an environmental audit.
Schedule an energy audit and implement energy efficiency measures.
Use solar power, wind and geothermal technology.
Enhance and accelerate maintenance and tune-ups of combustion equipment.
Shift or eliminate the operation of equipment to minimize air pollution during peak afternoon hours.
Defer industrial cleaning with volatile solvents until late in the day. When possible use alternative cleaners that are non-volatile, non-hazardous, and often cheaper.
Plan scheduled shut downs to occur June 15-30, and other high pollution days.
Shift or eliminate the operation of equipment to minimize air pollution during high pollution days.
