Branching Out – Year of Tree Events & Activities at the 2008 Indiana State Fair

Covered BridgeIndiana State Fair Covered Bridge

Designed after the famous Parke County bridges and constructed out of Indiana hardwoods, a permanent covered bridge will be built out of Indiana hardwood on the northwest side.  The Opening Ceremonies will be held at the covered bridge on Wed., Aug. 6 at 8:15 am.

Tree Décor

50 of indigenous Indiana trees will be planted all over the Fairgrounds and will be part of the Indiana State Fair Tree Trail.

GazeboTree Top Gift Shop presented by WalMart

The Gazebo Gift Shop will be decorated like a tree and Indiana wood souvenirs, such as wooden bookmarks and tree cookie ornaments made from Indiana wood, will be sold in the shop.

ChainsawScheer’s Lumberjack Show presented by Toyota Trucks

In Farm Bureau Insurance Celebration Park all 12 days at 11am, 1:30 & 4pm.   

Indiana State Fair Signature Foods

Maple, nut and hickory-smoked foods will be some of the Indiana State Fair signature foods for 2008.

Indiana Hardwood Forests Day

Opening Day, Wed., Aug. 6.  The Indiana Hardwood Lumbermen’s Association will feature large logging equipment and much more on the State Fair Boulevard.

Project Learning Tree Artwork Exhibit

Home & Family Arts Building 3rd Floor  – all 12 days.  To celebrate trees, Indiana Project Learning Tree is sponsoring a student art exhibit during the State Fair.  Examples of artwork include, but are not limited to, drawings, paintings, papermaking, leaf art, sculpture, paper mache, and poetry.
