 Kristen Ann Schmitt Miss Indiana State Fair 2008 |
Miss Indiana State Fair 2008 Kristen Ann Schmitt, the daughter of Charles and Judy Schmitt of Haubstadt, Indiana. The 21 year-old is a junior at the University of Southern Indiana studying elementary education and is the first representative of Gibson County to reign as the Indiana State Fair Queen in the 50-year history of the contest.
Miss Schmitt volunteers for the Haubstadt Chamber of Commerce, area homeless shelters and food banks. She is also a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church and participates in youth group and choir. A graduate of Gibson Southern High School, Kristen was active in Student Council, Sunshine Society, Basketball, Softball and FFA. Currently at Purdue University, she is a member of Block and Bridle and a National FFA Scholarship recipient.
In her free time, Kristen enjoys volunteering in the radiology departments at three Vanderburgh hospitals, baking and gardening, playing sports, showing cattle and singing.
As the 50th Indiana State Fair Queen, Miss Schmitt will visit approximately 35 county fairs, festivals and queen pageants in June and July next summer promoting the 2008 Indiana State Fair before serving as the Official Hostess of the annual event, August 6-17.
