The Traditional PPO health plan offered through the state of Indiana covers the same services as a Consumer-Driven Health Plan. Like the CDHP services are covered after the deductible is met. The Traditional PPO has a lower deductible and higher premiums. Please note that the co-insurance on the Traditional PPO is a bit higher as well at 30 percent.
Don’t forget to take advantage of 100 percent first dollar preventive care services. It is important to visit a primary care physician for an annual physical which includes screenings for high cholesterol and diabetes, the two most prevalent conditions among our plan members. Preventive services are a smart way to invest in your wellbeing.
As a Traditional PPO subscriber, you will pay a biweekly premium and the PPO will charge a coinsurance for each service rendered (for example, an office visit). Once your deductible is met, you will pay 30 percent of the negotiated cost until your maximum out-of-pocket is met.
When deciding which health plan is best for you and your family, it is important that you take time to study all costs involved. That means looking at the premiums, deductibles, out-of-pocket maximums for each plan. Then examine those costs in light of what you spent in 2013 for health care needs. Armed with that information, use the Benefits Calculator and let it help you determine what would work best in meeting your financial and health care needs for 2014.
