SPD > Benefits > Early Retirees Early Retiree Insurance Program

Upon retirement, eligible employees between the ages of 55 and 65 who have at least 15 years of creditable employment with a public employer (10 of which shall have been completed immediately preceding retirement) are offered early retiree insurance to continue their State insurance until they become eligible for Medicare. Complete eligibility requirements can be found in IC 5-10-8-8 or in the Benefiting You handbook. Eligible retirees will have 90 days from their retirement to elect early retiree insurance coverage.

Minnesota Life

Employees previously insured under the State of Indiana Term Life and Basic AD&D insurance program may elect to continue all or a portion of their in force insurance, as well as any in force insurance for dependents. Please contact Minnesota Life at 1-866-293-6047 if you have additional questions.

Conversion/Election to Transfer Life Insurance Coverage: You may download the form or you may request continuation forms from Minnesota Life.

The completed application must be received by Minnesota Life within the requested timeframe.
