Medco Prescription Plan Medco Prescription Plan

Medco Health Solutions, Inc. (Medco) now administers the state’s prescription drug benefit.

The Welcome Package Medco sent you has information about programs that make it easy for you to order your prescriptions and manage your health history.

Anthem still produces your ID card. Once you have your new Anthem ID card with the Medco logo on the back, make sure you use the new ID card. Your pharmacist will need to see the new ID card, even if have previously filled a prescription with that pharmacy. Haven't received your card? Print a Temporary Prescription ID Card

Note: When registering on Medco’s website, your ID number is the same number on the front of your new Anthem card, minus the three letter alpha prefix (YRM or YRP).

Several have asked about the Medco questionnaire.

Do you have to complete it? No, you do not.

However, the information you provide helps the Medco pharmacist learn of any drug allergies, medical conditions and over-the-counter medications. In addition, it provides a drug utilization review on behalf of the patient. Having the knowledge also help protect the health and safety of patients by reducing the possibility of drug interactions, duplicate therapy, refill too soon, and dispensing of medications of which patient may be allergic to.

If you do not complete the questionnaire, Medco will not have a complete picture of your health background. And that might put your health at risk.
