Secretary Rokita Helps Indianapolis School

Indianapolis, IN - Some Indianapolis Public School students today accepted a check from Indiana Secretary of State Todd Rokita. The $1,850 was raised during Rokita's annual golf outing.

"I am so happy to give this money to IPS School 54," Rokita said. "This has become an annual event, and I truly look forward to spending some time with the children and giving them this much-needed donation to help them learn about peaceful conflict resolution."

School 54 principal Emilee Matthews said the money would go toward a good cause, the school's peace program. "It will be used for incentives for our peace program which encourages children to be fight-free and to be peacemakers," she said.

In addition to the financial contribution, Secretary Rokita and members of his staff also volunteer their time throughout the school year to help the students with reading and other learning activities. Staffers also bought school supplies for the children; the notebooks, pencils, and folders were collected at the office's family picnic.
